Meet Amy, Your Child’s Learning Partner at Ready Set Grow

Hello! I’m Amy, and I’m passionate about helping children unlock their full potential through personalised tutoring. With over 10 years of experience as a qualified teacher, I’ve worked with primary-aged children from Reception all the way through to Year 6, both in the classroom and privately as a tutor. My journey in education has allowed me to build a deep understanding of how each child learns best, and I’m thrilled to be able to support families in a way that makes a real difference.

Why I’m Passionate About Teaching and Tuition

In recent years, I’ve discovered that what I love most is individualised learning. In a traditional classroom, it can be difficult to provide the focused attention that each child needs to thrive. That’s where I come in. I focus on setting small, achievable goals that make learning exciting and rewarding. By personalising each lesson, I help children build their knowledge and reach their full potential — whether they’re catching up, tackling more challenging material, preparing for exams or looking to build up their confidence

Emotional Intelligence: The Heart of My Teaching

One of the things that sets my approach apart is my belief in the importance of emotional intelligence. I believe that children can’t excel unless they feel safe, supported, and valued. When children feel emotionally secure, they are confident to take risks, ask questions, and tackle challenges head-on. Creating an emotionally safe space is key to learning, and that’s why I ensure that each child has the time, support, and encouragement they need to thrive. It’s when children feel safe that the magic of learning happens.

A Diverse Teaching Background

In addition to my one-on-one tutoring work, I’ve had the opportunity to teach children with diverse needs, including those with additional learning needs. This experience has helped me develop a deeper understanding of how to tailor my support to meet each child’s unique requirements. I’ve also held leadership roles in education, which has given me a wider perspective on how to foster positive learning environments.

Watching children progress and achieve goals they once thought were impossible is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. There’s nothing quite like seeing a child’s face light up when they realise they can do something they never thought possible.

Balancing Work and Family

When I’m not teaching, I’m a proud mother of three wonderful children, who keep me busy alongside my amazing husband, Dean. We love spending time together outdoors, climbing trees, exploring nature, and of course, always with a bar of chocolate in hand! Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I believe that fostering strong relationships at home is just as important as fostering them at school.

Why I Teach

Teaching has always been my dream. As a child, I struggled with confidence in school, often unsure of myself and hesitant to speak up. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping children build their self-belief. I want every child I work with to feel empowered to ask questions, give things a go, and celebrate their small victories, because those small steps lead to big achievements.

Seeing children grow not only in their learning but also in their self-confidence is my greatest joy. I’m dedicated to making sure every child I teach knows that they are capable of achieving great things.
